Optikon, for the constant purpose of updating
and developing its vitreo-retinal surgery equipment, has introduced a new Xenon light source
based on High Efficiency HID lamp, characterized by a high intensity illumination, up to 5100° Kelvin,
and a lifetime longer than 2500 operating hours.
Optikon New HID Xenon Light,
providing a color temperature of 5100°K can be compared to midday sunlight (5600°K).
Optikon New HID Xenon Light now
replaces the previous halogen light on all Optikon new vitreo-retinal surgery equipment
(Assistant, VitModule for Pulsar2). The previous halogen light source provided a color
temperature not higher than 3200°K (yellow light) and lasted 50 times less than
new Xenon light.
Thanks to its color temperature
very close to sunlight, Optikon New HID Xenon Light is whiter than halogen source and
ensures clearer vision in the posterior segment.
Optikon New HID Xenon Light allows
to use 20/23/25G optical fibers at constant illumination performances.
By using a specific adaptor (REF.
128905 – “Two-way beam splitter for Xenon source”) the surgeon can
connect two optical fibers at the same time with no drop in illuminating performance
on either fibers.
Optikon New HID Xenon Light intensity
allows to use a specific range of coaxially illuminated accessories (vitreous cutter,
pics, microforceps and microscissors) for vitreo-retinal surgery.
The Xenon lamp lifetime is 2500
hours, considerably longer than the 50 hour lifetime of a halogen lamp!
Optikon New HID Xenon Light is
integrated on all Optikon new generation surgical equipment: Assistant and VitModule
for Pulsar2.
